The Cisco GLC-TE is a Gigabit Ethernet SFP transceiver designed to provide 1000BASE-T connectivity over standard Category 5 or better copper Ethernet cabling. It is suitable for Cisco network switches, routers, and other compatible networking equipment that uses SFP interfaces, providing a practical way to connect copper Ethernet networks to SFP ports. Cisco specifies a maximum operating distance of 100 metres over Cat 5e or better cabling.
The module uses an RJ-45 connector and supports 10/100/1000BASE-T operation, making it useful when connecting network equipment over conventional copper Ethernet instead of fibre. Its hot-swappable SFP form factor allows compatible equipment to be expanded or adapted without replacing the entire network device.
